The Cross Is Your Bridge

StoryParable★★★★

Two men were traveling along a road, each dragging a cross. The one man seemed to keep going better than the other man. The one man was lagging farther and farther behind. In desperation he shortened his cross so he could travel faster. He stopped four times to shorten his cross. Finally he came to a river, but there was no bridge to cross the river. Then he saw a sign that said, “The cross is your bridge.” His stubby little cross was too short to reach across the rushing river. His future was devastated because he had chosen to shorten his cross. His friend had crossed the river and had traveled on.

The point

Two men drag crosses along a road; one shortens his cross to go faster, but when he reaches a river, his short cross cannot serve as a bridge, while his friend's full-length cross allows crossing.
