Singing I Go

In his autobiography, Then Sings My Soul, George Beverly Shea, longtime soloist
for the Billy Graham Crusades, tells of growing up in a pastor’s home in Canada.
Every morning of his childhood, Bev Shea awoke in the same way. His mother, a
gifted musician, would sit down at the piano, hit the cords, and begin singing in a
sweet soprano voice the old gospel song:
Singing I go along life’s road,
Praising the Lord, praising the Lord,
Singing I go along life’s road,
RJr Jesus has lifted my load.
The way we are awakened in the morning has a big impact on our attitude all
day long; so no wonder George Beverly Shea came to be called “America’s beloved
gospel singer.”
