Heavens 12 Gates

IllustrationObject Lesson★★★★

Now the Bible says there are 12 gates. This is very unusual. Most ancient cities might have had two gates or three, why, because gates in an ancient city were to keep people out. You limit the number of gates so that if the attackers attack you, you can shut the gates and there are only a few people that come in.

But in God’s city there are 3 gates on the North, 3 gates on the South, 3 gates on the East, and 3 gates on the West. Now in the book of Rev numbers are important. 7 is always a symbol of perfection. 7 is a symbol of God’s number.

6 is imperfection or rebellion. 7 reveals God’s perfect plan. He creates the earth in 6 days and completes His perfect creation and rest’s on the Sabbath on the 7th day. 6 is always the number of imperfection.

In the book of Rev, 4 is always universality. The four winds the four points on the compass. 3 is always divinity, the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. 12 in Rev is always completeness.

12 Patriarch’s, the complete number of people saved in the OT representing 12 disciples the complete number of people saved in the NT. So here you have 12 gates, that is representing the completeness of those who will be saved from the N, E, S and W. You have four walls in the holy city, that represents the different points on the compass. 3 gates on the North, 3 gates on the South, 3 gates on the East, and 3 gates on the West.

Here the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit on the east say, “Come in”. The Father, Son and the Holy Spirit on the west say, “Come in”. The Father, Son and the Holy Spirit on the north say, “Come in”. The Father, Son and the Holy Spirit on the south say, “Come in”.

Why 12 gates, here’s why heaven’s goal is to get as many people in as possible not to keep them out. See, the gates of the holy city are open. They’re open for every man every woman every child who comes to Jesus Christ. They’re open for everyone who comes by faith and says, “Lord I accept your blood as my redemption for sin.

And deep within my heart and my life I want to obey you.” God is saying whoever you are you can make it in through of those in the holy city. If you’re on east you can make it in. If you’re on west you can make it in.

South, can make it in. North, you can make it in. However much you want to be saved God wants to save you more.
