However, due to uncertainty about his feelings and imminent departure, he left without proposing. Two years later, after much prayer, he proposed again. Christina initially refused due to societal pressure but eventually felt God’s conviction and agreed. She joined him in Africa on November 23, 1860, saying she came ‘to do the work of God with you, whatever it may be.’ Their marriage was marked by mutual respect, commitment, and a shared sense of divine purpose.
