Confronting a Mocking Relative about God's Law

I remember 1 day I was driving in the car with a family member, a Relative, and this relative was really giving me a hard time. They claimed to be Christian and they knew that I believed that God’s 10 Commandments are still effective today. And he just kept mocking me regarding that. Can you imagine?

He just kept mocking me. And I put up with it, and I put up with it, and I put up with it, and then there came a point that I was done with it.

And I said, Lord, I’ve had him up to here. I said, I love this person, you know I do, but what they’re saying, I’m tired of.

So will you please give me something for him? So I looked at him and I said, you know, I want to ask you a question. And he swallowed hard because he knew that I had had it. I mean, I didn’t show anger, but he was afraid.

You know, truth loses nothing by investigation. Error does not like to be investigated. So I said, I want to ask you some questions. And he kind of looked out of the corner of my eye, and I said, you say you love God, is that true?

He said, yes. You love Jesus? Yes. Did you know why Jesus hung on the cross for you?

Because of your sin. The Bible says that sin is the transgression of the law. Because you and I transgressed the law, he had to come down here, be humiliated and murdered to save us. Now I love him, why would I want to continue doing the very thing that caused him his death?

Now you claim to love him, yet you don’t have any problem continuing to do the things that hurt his heart and caused his death. I have a problem with that and that’s why his law means something to me. And you know that brother didn’t bring that up anymore. That was the end of it.
