Healthy Meditation on Reality

TestimonyAnalogy★★★★

The type of meditation that I found, not only personally, but also in working with patients to be truly helpful, is when we focus on reality. Now that can be in nature. You know, it can be being present in nature, meditating on the beauty of God’s works, but it can also certainly be meditating on God’s word, meditating on substantive aspects of who he is, like his character, because this stuff is real, right?

That bird out there is real. That rose there is real. The way God created it is real. His character of love is real.

What he wrote in his word is real. And when we meditate on those things, It actually helps us to be not less sensitive to the needs of those around us, not less sensitive to what’s going on around us.

It gives us a perception that it becomes more clear and also leads us to then respond appropriately rather than just kind of this aloof state.

The point

The speaker advocates for meditation focused on real things like nature, God's word, and His character, which increases sensitivity and appropriate response rather than detachment.
