Rat Park Experiments
Historical Account★★★★Dr. Bruce Alexander did a series of experiments in the 1970s known as the Rat Park experiments. He put rats in cages with two water bottles: one plain and one laced with cocaine or heroin. In an empty, boring cage, rats preferred the drug-laced water and often overdosed. But when he created an engaging ‘Rat Park’ environment filled with interesting things to do and socialize with other rats, they didn’t drink the drugged water.
