Old Couple Rebaptized

They were living together for thirty years. The man was now incapacitated and bedridden. As they studied the Word of God, they confessed that though they had been baptized by immersion, they had never really studied the Bible. The more they studied the more their hearts burned to recommit their lives to Christ.

But when they went over the Ten Commandments, they showed an uneasy look. Yes, though they had lived together for thirty years, they had never legally married. The aged woman began to cry. “They baptized us, but they never told us that we were living in sin nor studied with us.

“Now we know in verity that your teachings are from God. We want to get baptized, but we first must make our lives right.

We want to get married before the Lord.” A few days later, the groom was dressed lying on the bed. The elderly woman was attired with a beautiful dress. And in their bedroom, the wedding took place.

When the day of the baptism arrived, strong men picked up the aged man and placed him in a wheel chair. Then at the baptismal site, they hoisted up the wheel chair and candidate into the baptismal pool.

The old man and his wife beamed as they enter the watery grave of baptism. How thankful they were to be cleansed from all sins! Now, they were not baptized in their sins, but without their sins.

When the old man was taken out of the baptistery, something wonderful happened. Whereas, before he could not sit up, after the baptism, he was able to sit and attend the rest of the meetings.
