Man's Best Friend

Edwin Arlington Robinson wrote, “The world is a kind of spiritual kindergarten where bewildered infants are trying to spell God with the wrong blocks.” Two men were traveling together by plane. While one napped, the other remained busy working a crossword puzzle. He nudged his friend in the ribs and asked, “What is a word of three letters, with the letter O in the middle, meaning, man’s best friend?” His friend mumbled, “Dog;’ But dog didn’t fit the puzzle. The man kept working at it and finally said, “The last letter is D.” But they never did come up with the right answer, that the first letter was G. And in the puzzles of life, many people never realize that their best friend is God.
