A customer brought an exquisite greeting card to the counter
and reached for his wallet. Pushing the keys on the cash regis-
ter, the clerk said, “That will be two dollars, please.”
“Two dollars?” the customer bellowed. “Forget it!” He jammed
his wallet back in to his pocket and stormed out of the shop.
When the clerk returned the card to the rack, she noticed that
it read “To my Wife, Because You Mean So Much.”
The point
A man balked at paying two dollars for a greeting card saying to his wife "You Mean So Much," then stormed out—revealing indifference in marriage.
