The Three Doors of the Sanctuary and the Heart

How many doors were there in the sanctuary? 3. It’s The door into the outer court, door into the holy place, and door between the holy and most holy place. There’s 3 doors there.

So when we ask, which door is Jesus knocking on, the answer is, it depends on where you’re at. It depends on you. Door 1, the outer court, that’s your time and your space. That’s your physical realm.

Friends, you can’t enter any other way into the sanctuary just like there’s no other way to enter into a relationship with someone without time and space. Right? You know any other way? It’s impossible.

So that first door resembles Time and space, spending time with people. In this case, we’re talking about spending time with God. That’s door number 1. Door number 2, that’s the holy place.

That’s the mind. We’re going into the mind now. And now, Let’s see how many scholars we got in this room this morning. There were pillars at this door.

Who knows how many pillars were at the door? I heard the answer. 5. There was 5 pillars at the door going into the holy place.

How many senses do you have? 5 senses, smell, taste, sight, and hearing. So this is the spiritual realm. This is where your thoughts and feelings and beliefs occur.

How many pillars of the porch? We just said 5. You have 5 senses and that’s how you gain access to this thing, the mind. What you see, what you smell, what you taste, what you touch, what you hear.

That’s how you get into the holy place. That’s how Satan or God gets into your holy place. Now, very interesting, in the typical service, the holy place is where sin got stored. Through the shedding of the blood of lamb.

They would take the blood in the bowl and the sin was symbolically transferred from the sinner to the lamb, to the blood, into the holy place. And that’s why we have an investigative judgment. Sin has been stored there all year round. How do we get rid of that sin that’s being stored in the holy place?

The day of atonement. That was the service that cleansed them from all their sins it says in Leviticus 16. And so, very interesting, where is sin stored in people? In the holy place.

In your feelings, your thoughts, and your beliefs. That’s where your brokenness is. We discussed that. And then the last 1, 0 yeah, that’s where the trauma is.

The trauma gets stored in that last, the most holy place. And what that is, That’s the throne room, friends. And that is where the will resides, what Sister White, part of what Sister White calls the higher powers. And this is the heart, quote unquote, where our nature resides.

And something interesting about this, where does God want to write his law? Where was God’s law in the sanctuary? It’s in the most holy place. Where does God want to write his law?

Where was God’s law in the sanctuary? It’s in the most holy place. Where does God want to write his law? In your hearts.

God wants to write his law in your hearts. Where was the presence of God in the sanctuary? In the most holy place. And this is where God wants to live.

He wants to live in the most holy place of your heart. And so what door is God knocking on? Well, friends, that depends on you. Are you allowing God time and space?

Maybe you’re not allowing God into your inner world, into your thoughts, into your feelings. Maybe you’re not allowing God to address your brokenness. God, don’t talk about my childhood. Don’t talk about my strained relationship with my father.

Don’t talk about my divorce. Don’t go to, let’s not address my fantasies. My addiction to validation, my addiction to posting pictures of myself online. I don’t want to go there.

We’re not letting God into that door. Or maybe some people are not letting God into the door of the throne room of their heart. Jesus is not number 1 in your life yet. You’re attracted to Christ, but you haven’t fully surrendered to Christ.

You’ve never been fully surrendered. So which 1 of these doors is he knocking on with you? That’s the question for you this morning, isn’t it? Where is Jesus saying today, will you let me in?
