Man Observing Paintings in Store Window

A man was strolling along the sidewalk, and his eye caught the display of paintings in a store window. He stopped to admire them. In the center of the display was a scene of the crucifixion. He was deep in thought.

However, while he stood there gazing at the paintings, his meditation was interrupted. A little boy had joined him. “See that man on the center cross, that’s Jesus,” the boy began.

“And see that man over there,” the little boy said pointing to the painting. “That is John, Jesus’ best friend. And you see that lady over there, that’s Jesus’ mother,” the little boy replied.

As the little boy continued, the man’s long-forgotten thoughts came to him from his childhood. He felt a knot welling in his throat. Not willing to give into his feelings and without saying a word, he abruptly turned and left the little boy. As he was walking away, he felt a tug on the back of his coat.

Turning around, he heard the little boy say, “Mister, I forgot to tell you that He died for you.”
