Faulty Barometer
IllustrationAnalogyObject Lesson★★★★There was a man who was interested in buying a barometer. He saw it in a magazine. So he sent away for it. He was so anxious to receive it.
Finally it came. He received a slip in the mailbox saying it was at post office. Anxiously, he drove down to the Post Office and grabbed his package. He went to install it, but barometer needle pointed to hurricane.
He was upset. The thing wasn’t working. He shook it and it still didn’t work. So he shook it some more and it still didn’t work.
The needle still pointed to Hurricane. He was angry that he received a bad barometer. He took it back to the post office. And while he was there, the hurricane struck.
It was the first hurricane to hit New York City. Because a hurricane never hit NYC, he didn’t believe it. He thought the instrument was faulty. (Hold up the Bible) Many believe the instrument is faulty, but God said, “I will come again.”
The point
A man's faulty barometer predicted a hurricane that never came to New York, so he returned it—until the hurricane struck, proving the instrument was right though he didn't believe it.
