Unworldliness and Fellowship With God

Let me quote that unfinished sentence which was found on Dr. Dale’s study table when he died: “Unworldliness does not consist in the most rigid and conscientious observance of any external rules of conduct, but in the spirit and temper and in the habit of living created by the vision of God, by constant fellowship with Him, by a personal and vivid experience of the greatness of the Christian redemption, by the settled purpose to do the will of God always, at all costs, and by the power of the great hope, the full assurance, that after our mortal years are spent, there is a larger, fuller, richer life in” . . . There the hand has ceased to write; but we cannot be far wrong if we venture to close the sentence with the words we have been thinking of today; for the hope o£ the unworldly passes beyond the tasks and trials of our few years here to a larger, fuller, richer life in Him whose “kingdom is not of this world.”
