Let Go(d)
IllustrationStory★★★★Some years ago a university student was listening to someone read the first chapter of Genesis. He noticed the words of God: “Let there be light and there was light.” He noticed the emphasis on the word “let”. “Let God do this and let God do that.”
The read impressed upon his listeners that our great need is to let God have His way in our lives. The young man went home with these words ringing in his ears. He could not forget them. He carved them in letters of wood where he could see them.
There he read them over and over: “Let God, Let God.” But how could he let God?
Finally, in desperation, one day as he went out of his room, he said, “I just can’t let God!” And he banged on the door when he went out.
When he returned to his room, he noticed that the D had fallen off the word God. Now the sign read, “Let Go.” It finally dawned on him – he would not let go.
He was clinging to certain things, still desiring to have his own way. He was not willing to “let go” and “let God”. Friends, is that our trouble, are we holding? Will we ever “let go”?
Can’t we let God have His way with us? All He wants to do is save us. The Great Controversy is soon to be over. Which side will you be on?
