The Form Of A Servant
Story★★★★Years ago a young man, whose heart burned with love for souls, left his comfortable home and his loved ones for a faraway land, to give the message of salvation to those bound in slavery. But the slaves would not listen to his message.
They said, “You cannot talk to us. We are slaves; you are free. You are not in bondage to any man. What do you know about our needs?”
The missionary’s efforts seemed fruitless. Then one night, when all was silent, he seemed to hear a voice saying, “Who…took upon Him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men.” (Phil.
2:7). The next morning he sold himself a slave. Day after day he shared with the other slaves their poor, miserable huts and scanty food.
Side by side he worked with them under the tropical sun. With them he felt the taskmaster’s lash. At night many ready to listen, surrounded him as he told of Jesus, who was rich, but for their sakes became poor.
Such love won their hearts. Soon the young missionary, frail in body and unused to such hardships, was laid to rest, his work finished.

The point
Young missionary sells himself into slavery to reach slaves with the Gospel; shares their suffering, earns a hearing, and dies exhausted but faithful. Powerful on incarnational love and sacrifice.
