Christ as Teacher

The lad of twelve was not content with a “village- mind.” The great minds of Israel at the temple knew God and might teach him. “He grew in wisdom.” His disciples called him “Teacher.”
His followers were his disciples, “learn- ers.” How much time he spent in teaching them to think! What were his methods? (1) Parables, demanding thinking, and thinking in a practical way, “blessed is he that hears and does”; (2) questions, “is it lawful to do good or evil on the Sabbath?” “Who do you say I am?” questions not of fact, but calling for earnest, realistic thinking; (3) his life, dedicated to the mission of Truth: through a Cross of love, faith, forgiveness, and fellowship.

The point
Christ was an excellent teacher who used parables, challenging questions, and his own life to teach truth; his followers were called 'learners' because he emphasized thinking over passive reception.
