The Number on the Driver's License

I WAS stranded in my car once and my AAA membership had expired. I was stranded. I was stuck. So I picked up my phone and tried to find a wrecker service.

Finally after hours of searching, locating, and then waiting for one to arrive, someone comes to help me out. When I arrived home, I was tired and especially frustrated with myself for not having renewed my AAA card.

At a later date, I shared this episode with someone and they hit me with information I had never heard in all the years I’d been driving. I was told that on the back of my driver’s license is a number for Texas Roadside Assistance. For years, I’d been carrying around the telephone number of a savior and I had never bothered to call the number when I’d needed help.

Sadly, the tragedy is that most people don’t know that the solution for their problems is already written on the back of their driver’s license. Most people have never taken the time to notice or to read so they wind up stuck again and again, unaware of the help available to them. God’s Word is like Heavenly Roadside Assistance. If we would only pick it up, read it, use it, and then obey it, we would see help come alongside to provide a way out of anything the Devil brings to take us down.
