Fill Out a Voucher
IllustrationAnalogy★★★★WE HAVE a system in our church whereby financial requests are made. I have a budget that I take and allocate to the various staff persons based on our programming. In order to get money for a program, the staff must fill out a voucher. That voucher is designed to create accountability for the expenditures of the church’s funds.
If a department head wants money, that voucher must also be signed by the pastor over that area. Do you know that this department head doesn’t have to come in and fuss and cuss about that money? He doesn’t have to come in mad and angry and saying, “I want my money and I want it now! How come I don’t have it?”
All he has to do is ask. He simply fills out a voucher and says, “I need this. It’s within the purview of my budget.” By filling out that piece of paper, getting it signed, and having the pastor sign off on the voucher, a check is cut by our business office to meet the total needs of the request.
He doesn’t have to fight. In fact, if he comes in with a bad attitude, he may be telling us he’s not the person for the job! A simple authorized request is all that is required.
