Man in Bolivia

An Aymara Indian man was a heavy drinker. One night his aim was to get drunk and then return home, his usual habit.

But on his way home he fell from his horse and lay there on the trail all night in a drunken stupor. His horse remained standing beside him. When the man awakened early the next morning, he noticed a black object sticking out of the dust.

Wiping away the dust, he found it was a Bible and wondered who could have left it there. He began reading the book immediately and felt God speaking to him. He returned home and told his wife what had happened. “I am giving my life to Christ!” he said.

He had never heard the gospel preached, but he continued to read the Bible out loud. Some time later his wife also accepted Christ. Together they decided to contact a mission station, the address of which they found on the inside cover of the Bible. They traveled 120 miles to meet one of the missionaries.

Later, the couple confirmed their new-found faith by being baptized.
