Dead Christmas Trees

There was a man who just built a home. Next he had to begin doing the landscape. He thought of planting trees. So he went searching for trees.

He found a man who was selling trees by the wayside. They were beautiful looking trees. When asking the price he was amazed at how cheap they were.

Some were for six dollars, and some ten dollars. Some trees were six feet and some eight feet tall. He bought several. The man then told him he need not remove the burlap.

He could just plant them as they are. He was excited at his wonderful finding. He planted all the trees, watered and fertilized them. Then he sat back and looked at what transformation the trees had made of his landscape.

He imagined what the landscape would look like in a few years as the trees grew to a stature of 30 to fifty feet. In a few weeks he noticed that the trees were showing signs of wilting on the tips. He went to the other trees and noticed the same. Anxious, he began to water and dig to help the tree.

A neighbor came over and counseled that he was using too much water. He decided to water every other day. But the problem continued.

Finally the trees were all dead. Disappointed, he decided that the only thing to do was to dig them up and burn them. When he dug up a few, he decided to remove the burlap and discover what happened to the roots.

Upon removal, he discovered that there were no roots. He then realized that these were left over Christmas trees that someone had put dirt around the nailed wood at the bottom, and then wrapped burlap around to give the appearance that the trees had been dug up with the roots.

It then dawned on him that he had been taken! Appeal: Perhaps you have sincerely believed that you were on the right course. You have made an effort to be true to God in following what you have been taught. But tonight, you have discovered that being sincere is not enough.

One can be sincerely wrong. But our Lord is merciful.

You might have been like Saul, (who later became the great Apostle Paul) with great fervor and zeal followed oh so carefully your particular faith. But like the man taken with the rootless trees you now realize that you need to make the decision to follow the light as Christ in his word has revealed to you.

You desire to separate from Babylon and become part of God’s true Command keeping people. Will you like Paul say, “Lord what will you have me to do?” Will you stand for the Lord and His truths? Will you be loyal to your blessed Savior and be true to Him?

Will you stand?
