Entertained to Hell

A MAN went on vacation with his family to an amusement park. Being a minister, he looked at everything theologically. So while at the amusement park, he began to do some theology on roller coasters. The entry charge per person for the amusement park was quite steep as is the norm for these fun centers, and there were six people in the minister’s family.

They got there at noon and left at midnight. So that’s twelve hours. It dawned on the minister late in the afternoon that he was standing in line forty-five minutes to one hour to get a ninety- second ride. He began calculating.

At the end of the twelve hours, he would have ridden ten rides at approximately ninety seconds a ride. That means he paid an expensive price to ride ten rides and only received fifteen minutes’ worth of entertainment. The amusement park had constructed things so that while you were in line, there were TV monitors displaying Bugs Bunny’s fiftieth anniversary. They had these cartoons of Bugs Bunny playing because they wanted their visitors to forget how long they were waiting.

They didn’t want their guests to think about the fact that they were being robbed blind by paying such high prices for tickets worth fifteen minutes of rides. The minister left the park with his family having had a great time but now wiser.

He now knew that the people running the amusement park were aware they robbed their visitors. That is precisely what Satan has done in our world order. He has gotten us looking at the cartoons and caused us to forget how long we are standing in line while he robs us. Yet our world does not understand and does not see its condition.

People are unaware that Satan is entertaining them to hell. They are without God and are without hope. So God intervened and provided a way of salvation.
