The Customer Who Wanted a Deal
Story★★★★There was this person that came to the market and said, ‘Can I have that flat for $15?’ And I said, ‘No, it’s gonna be $25, no less than that.’ A flat is about 14 pounds. The person was wanting to buy the whole thing. So I said, ‘No, I’ll give you $15.’ And there’s a line of people waiting for the tomatoes. Finally, the person moved to the side, and the customers behind went like, ‘I want that, I want that one, I want that one, I want 2 pounds, 3 pounds, 4 pounds.’ And very soon, the last box that was being negotiated for $15 was selling.
And the person had to buy half of the flat for the same price that we were offering the whole thing for. At some point, you have to say no. You have to say, ‘I do value my work. I value the product I put out.’
