The RV Lifestyle

My wife and I lived in an RV for 9 years and we would travel. I would preach prophecy seminars. We would do health evangelism at churches, do training sessions, and it was really fun. But we approached our mid-30s and we’re still doing this, and it was wonderful and fulfilling, but then that’s about the age where a lot of our peers and friends started like buying houses and getting nice cars and having normal life kind of things.

I remember we would look at each other and be like, ‘You know, we’re in our mid-30s and we live in an RV. Is this... you know, we’re kind of still like kids.’ Jennifer’s younger sisters both bought really nice, beautiful homes. And these are her younger sisters, you know, and we would go to their homes and stuff. We’d be like, ‘Shouldn’t this be us?’ And we would kind of feel insecure about that.

Then one of her sisters shared something with us that knocked our socks off. We were with her and there was just the three of us in a room and we were talking and she confided in us, she says, ‘You know what, we’re so busy and sometimes I just daydream about living your guys’ lifestyle. You guys just, you know, if you want to go to San Diego for the winter you go, and you spend summers in Tahoe, and then you go speak at this church, and you get to visit this part of the country.’ She’s like, ‘I just, to be honest, I just kind of fantasize about living your guys’ life.’ So we’re looking at them and what are they doing?

They’re looking at us. And here’s the bizarre thing: people whose lifestyles you fantasize about, guess what? In some ways they’re fantasizing about you. Isn’t that ridiculous?

Isn’t that just stupid?
