Newspaper Reporter

“I want to tell you that I was at some of your presentations fifteen years ago,” said an attending newspaper reporter to the visiting preacher. “I would love to have an interview with you tomorrow for my newspaper.” After it was agreed to have the interview, she left.

The next morning the pastor made his way to the newspaper building where he would meet his appointment. Happy that he had arrived, she began to open her heart. “As I told you last night,” she began, “I attended your meetings fifteen years ago.

I felt then that I should commit myself to Christ. And I fully intended to do it, but I had other things I wanted to do first.

One thing led to another. I got involved with the theater life, singing, and the dog-eat-dog of show business life. I was unhappy. And though in the back of my mind the impression made at your meeting lingered, I could not break away from what I was doing.

I have wasted and lost fifteen years of my life trying to find meaning in life, but to no avail.” Then she told the pastor that her hopes revived when she heard that he was back in town.

Determined to be there, she changed her schedule. “Last night as I listened, the deep movings of God that I had felt fifteen years ago revived. Back then I remember the desire I had as I watched others being baptized to experience the same myself.

But I didn’t follow through. After fifteen years, I have determined by God’s grace to catch up on lost time.

I am going to be baptized, and begin a new life.”
