How To Boil A Frog
IllustrationObject Lesson★★★★Scientist’s have discovered that a frog can adapt to its climate rather quickly. They wanted to know exactly how long it would take to adapt. So they put it cold water and it adapted quickly. Satisfied with that experiment they wanted to try warmer water.
They heated up the cold water slowly and the frog began to adjust. After some time adjusted it to luke warm water and as they expected it adjusted to the water.
They turned it up a little more and a little more and a little more until the water began to boil. He frog was getting so used to the high temperature that it did not notice how hot the water became and it died. Through a constant familiarity win sin we become numb to it and we don’t see that it is wrong. Our conscience becomes seared and we do not repent and therefore we are not forgiven.
The constant refusal to yield to God is the unpardonable sin. Appeal can be made in reference to people who have not yielded and the result of that.
The point
A frog gradually adjusts to increasingly hot water until it boils to death; similarly, gradual familiarity with sin numbs our conscience until we cannot repent and lose God's forgiveness.
