Contentment in Singleness
TestimonyAnalogy★★★★If you have this mentality of like your life is not complete until you find somebody or like you feel like any kind of emptiness or any kind of lack in your life because you don’t have a significant other. I feel like that needs to be addressed first with the Lord because God’s math is 1 plus 1 equals 1. He doesn’t want to bring somebody that is in a position of lack into a relationship with someone. He wants to complete you first. Like you should be in a place, like if you feel like you’re ready to find somebody, you should be in a place where you’re completely satisfied in every area of your life. Like not that you’re perfect in every area of your life, but you understand here’s where I am, here’s where I want to go, here’s the step that I’m going to get there and you’re happy working on those steps and you’re enjoying life and you’re satisfied in what God has given you and the place that God has put you and you learn to be content with that.
And I think that’s really important because when you get into a relationship, if you have that attitude, then whatever the relationship brings are just cherry on top. You’re not expecting the relationship to fulfill you, you’re not expecting the relationship to complete you. That’s the role of the Holy Spirit. That’s the job that God wants to do in your life. And that’s where Hollywood really, you know, capitalized on, right? You’re supposed to find your other half and you’re not complete until you find them. Like, that’s a very worldly way of thinking about relationship. And I would say that that causes a lot of problems in relationship because with that comes a lot of unrealistic expectation. But if you’re completely content and satisfied with your first husband and your first wife, which is the Lord Jesus, then I think you truly are ready to have someone that you can just give to. Your relationship should be a place that you overflow into, not a place that you’re filling up from. And when you flow into the relationship, when both sides flow into your relationship and everything that the other person do is just cherry on top, then you have a much easier time celebrating each other. And you’re much have a much easier time appreciating the person for what they are instead of focusing on their flaws. And just there’s just a lot more peace in a relationship.

The point
Encourages contentment in singleness by finding completeness in Christ rather than expecting a relationship to fulfill, warning against Hollywood's 'other half' mentality.
