Now He Wants to Be a Priest

THERE was a Catholic young lady who was thinking about marrying a non-Catholic young man. The mother said, “No way, you know that we cannot marry outside of our faith, and the only way that you can marry this guy is if you turn him into a Catholic too.” The young lady went to work, very determined to change his religion. She and her mother worked hard together to turn him into a Catholic, and over time he began to break down as they sold him on the reasons why he should become a Catholic.

Given his love for her, he went to catechism classes, and learned what it meant to be a Catholic. Finally, he converted to Catholicism, and in a few months they were to be married.

A week before the wedding, the young lady came to her mother, sobbing and bawling. Her mother said, “Well, what’s wrong?” She said, “We can’t get married.” She said, “What do you mean you can’t get married?”

“I can’t marry him,” she answered. The mother said, “I don’t understand why not. We sold him on our faith. We sold him, and now he is a Catholic.”

The young lady responded, “Yeah, we sold him all right. Now he wants to be a priest!” When you are dating, a lot of overselling goes on.

Then you get married and you find out you were sold a bill of goods.
