For Blessings of a Land

Poem★★★★

For blessings of a land so great, For freedom of a Christian state, We thank Thee, Lord. For golden harvest of the field, For laden orchards’ plenteous yieid, For favor of Thy sheltering shield— We thank Thee, Lord. May we ne’er fail to recognize Thy gracious favor from the skies— And thank Thee, Lord. For every raindrop from above, For sunlight’s mystic treasure trove, For each new token of Thy love— We thank Thee, Lord. Thanksgiving Day! O let it be A feast of incense unto Thee, Of thanks, O Lord. Let men arise on every hand, From sea to sea in all our land, And join in chorus great and grand, To thank Thee, Lord.

John H. Blakely.
