Jessica—Young German Girl

Fifteen-year-old Jessica was attending a weekend series of lectures in Germany. She had gone to hear the American speaker, Louis Torres. Her presence there was merely out of curiosity. However, the more she heard, the more she became convicted.

She determined not to yield herself to Christ. It was not that she did not believe in Him, it was just simply that she wanted to enjoy life before becoming too serious about religion.

On Sunday morning, the last presentation was to be given. Though advised concerning the impracticality of making a public call due to the people’s resistance to such public display, the speaker nonetheless made an appeal. As Jessica listened, she began to have a great struggle in her soul. Later she admitted that it seemed as if her heart’s throbbing would push it out of her chest.

But she had purposed that she would not, at this young age, make such a serious commitment. She resisted until she could no longer resist. The promptings of God’s Holy Spirit she could not deny. As Pastor Torres made a fervent appeal for baptism, Jessica could no longer hold back.

With tears streaming down her beautiful, fair complexion, Jessica finally decided to stand, and by doing so, made a public declaration that she would not only get baptized, but surrender her life completely to the Lord. After the meeting, with tears still freely flowing after an hour, she told the pastor about her struggle, and the gratitude she had for his appeal.
