Eternal God, Friend of all ages, we seek renewal for our weary spirits.

Here amid the hallowed memories and aspirations of many now gone from our presence, we recall thy power unto men of old. Yet art thou the same yester- day, today and forever. Thy strength, generously given, is never exhausted. We remember this day all who have offered us a fuller life through thy church.

For devoted church school teachers who have brightened our lives with fact and feeling about thy love for humankind, we give thee thanks. For church school administrators who with skill and consecration have created efficient patterns of organization, we recognize our indebtedness. For pastors who in countless ways influence growing life through their example and ad- monition, we raise our voices in praise. For denominational leaders who appre- ciate the role of religious instruction in the full program of the living church, 320 we express our gratitude.

For artists and writers who have wrought the mate- rials of instruction and edification, we offer praise. For faithful parents at whose knees we first learned life’s deepest meanings, we open our hearts in thanksgiving. Thanks be to thee, O God, for all who have taught and all who teach. Grant thy church wisdom, our Father, that it may continue to teach children in the way they should go.

Give to each of us the knowledge needed to join with church leaders in their effort to achieve thy Kingdom of truth and righteousness. These mercies we ask in the name of the Teacher sent from God, even Christ Jesus. Amen.
