The Apparition at the Dorm

During a week of prayer held in Palau Mission Academy in the Palauan Islands, something strange took place. After the speaker made his presentation on the second night, the students went to retire in their respective dorms.

The boys’ dorm was above the girls’ in the same building. As the girls were getting ready for bed, an old woman dressed in white appeared. Frightened at the sight, the girls began to scream. The boys upstairs laughed at the silly girls’ cries.

The following morning, none of the girls were awake enough to study seeing they spent the night petrified of the apparition. The following evening the pastor spoke again, and once more the students went to their respective dorms. This time the pastor’s wife stayed with the girls through the night. While it was quiet in the girls’ dorm, that was not the case with the boys.

Yelling and screaming erupted from the boys’ location—this time the apparition appeared to them. This was very troubling to the school. The next night, the pastor’s wife once again slept with the girls, while the pastor slept with the boys. The following morning the pastor met with the student body and announced to them that this evil presence was present because someone was either knowingly inviting it or inadvertently inviting it.

So he suggested that a fifty-gallon drum be placed outside the dorm, and anyone who had something they knew needed to be discarded should do so. Opportunity was given to the students to surrender willingly whatever items or relics might be held that Satan could claim as his. One by one, the students disappeared into the dorms and appeared with all manner of cultic artifacts. Eight balls (supposedly able to give answers to the tests), rock-n-roll records, drugs, and other symbols of witchcraft were brought.

Each dispensed their items into the barrel. Then a prayer was offered, and gasoline was poured into the barrel and ignited.

Up in smoke it all went, ascending toward heaven as a sweet incense. After this, a great revival took place, and many of the students committed their lives to Christ.
