Stolen Barbeque
IllustrationStory★★★★A family moved to Toronto, Canada. They set up their barbecue in the back yard. The next night they went shopping. On returning they found that somebody had stolen their barbecue.
They were really upset. Two nights later the barbecue was returned with this note: “Welcome to the neighborhood. We were having a cook out and we borrowed your barbecue. We’ve inconvenienced you here’s two tickets to the concert for tomorrow night in downtown in Toronto.”
These folk were so excited that their neighbors had just given them the tickets. The next night they went to the concert. The thieves came in and cleaned out their entire house. The tickets were compliments of the thieves.
When the Bible talks about Christ’s coming as a thief, its not talking about some secret rapture. It is say the second coming will happen when we don’t expect it.
The point
A barbecue is stolen, returned with an apologetic note and concert tickets—then thieves use the distraction to rob the house. Christ's unexpected return won't be a secret rapture but a sudden judgment when unprepared.
