This brought great concern to the perplexed governor. “If I become president, how will I be able to keep the Sabbath?”
He wondered. Troubled over the certain future reality, he continued to pray and wonder how he could keep the Lord’s Sabbath. Finally, in his devotional time, it finally struck him: “If I become president, I can set my own schedule.”
At last peace came over him. The dream did come true, and Governor Etpison did become president. As his custom was, he went to church on the Sabbath. At his funeral, the succeeding president testified concerning the witness Etpison bore of his faithfulness to his faith in the Lord.
In all of his presidential tenure, Etpison never veered away from his commitment to keep God’s Sabbath.
