Tracking the Hurricane from Above
IllustrationAnalogy★★★★MANY of us are well aware that when tornado trackers track tornadoes, they try to get close enough to them so that they can send all of these chemicals and all of these high tech pieces of equipment into the midst of the tornado in order to be able to gather information from the tornado itself. It’s very dangerous to chase a tornado. If it ever turns on you, you’re in trouble. It’s a lot safer to track a hurricane.
You wouldn’t think so given the power of some hurricanes, but hurricane trackers are different from tornado trackers. Tornado trackers track from the ground. Hurricane trackers track from the air. They travel above the hurricane.
They get really high. Because of their altitude, they’re able to see things without being endangered by the hurricane itself even though what they’re looking at is very dangerous. Many Christians today feel as if their lives are spinning out of control, just like those hurricanes. They feel that their lives are in a state of frenzy and disaster.
It’s one thing to try to look at those kinds of circumstances from ground level; it’s a whole different thing to look at things from a higher altitude. It’s a different matter to try to see things from God’s perspective.
The point
Hurricane trackers view storms from above, safely gaining perspective impossible from ground level. Similarly, viewing life's chaos from God's perspective provides clarity and safety. A powerful analogy for faith amid crisis.
