The Morning Star in Your Heart

2 Peter 1, verse 19 says this, ‘and we have a more reliable word of prophecy, which you would do well to follow as a light that shines in a dark place until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.’ This is such a beautiful verse, my friends. Here it’s talking about prophecy. We have a reliable, a more sure word of prophecy, the prophetic word that God has given us. It is a sure foundation, but notice the intention, the purpose of this prophetic word that he has given us.

It said that you would do well to follow as a light that shines in darkness, until something happens, until the day dawn and the morning star arises in your hearts. Now here’s where we’re gonna get into start transitioning into some principles on how to understand scriptures. I wanna challenge you when you’re studying the Bible.

When you read a scripture, try not to assume you know what the scripture means, but let the Bible interpret itself. Are you tracking with me? I’ll give you an example. Here it says that the word of prophecy, the word of God, the more sure word, the reliable word of prophecy, it causes the morning star to arise in our hearts.

Now that sounds very feel good, doesn’t it? That sounds very feel good, It sounds beautiful. It’s like, oh man, he wants to shine in my heart. But what is it?

What is it? That actually means something though, guys. It means something specific. Notice Revelation 22, 16.

‘I, Jesus, who? Jesus, have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I, Jesus speaking still, I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and?’ Who is the morning star? It’s Jesus.

So when Peter says that the prophetic word will cause the morning star to arise in your hearts, what does that mean? That the prophetic word introduces your heart to who? To Jesus. My friends, if you study prophecy and you don’t see Jesus, you did not study prophecy correctly.

Jesus should be at the center of it all, my friends.
