Encounter with a Witch at Camp Meeting

I was speaking at a camp meeting and during the message, I was sharing a few points about witchcraft. And lo and behold, there was a witch in the crowd who was not very pleased about what I was sharing and she began to get very vocal towards the end of my message... At one point I had to tell her, listen, I will talk to you at the end. Please don’t hijack this whole talk because you have an issue.

I’ll talk with you at the end. So as soon as that was over, I went to go talk to her. I said, I need to talk to the girl. Then I was stopped by a gentleman who was very earnest, very intense, and he began sharing some things with me.

And honestly, they kind of seemed really conspiracy theorist... I said, I’m so sorry. I need to go talk to this girl. Is that okay?

He said, yeah, yeah, yeah, that’s fine. But he followed me.

So me and he was just really intense, really serious guy. And he came with me and I found the girl, the witch outside, and she was around a circle, she was arguing with a bunch of the young adults that were at that camp meeting. And I heard her saying, we don’t even know who wrote the Bible and if these are even the authors of the books. And she was going off on all this stuff and people were arguing with her.

And I came, I was like, Hi, sorry to interrupt. I heard you disagreed with something I shared in the talk, and I would just like to ask you what it was about my talk that you didn’t agree on. And by the way, my name is Gabe. I took my hand out.

She was dressed like a witch. She had the pointed hat. She had a cape on. It was green.

She’s a white witch. According to her, she’s a white witch, so she’s into nature and so on and so forth. And I put my hand out. She would not shake my hand.

She just waved her hand through her little cape. I said, OK. I said, so what’s the issue you had with my talk? And she says, well, you know, people always are so down on witchcraft and they don’t realize the difference between, you know, white witchery and black witchery.

And she, you know, went on to defend all this stuff. I was like, okay, okay. I was like, wait a minute. Why are you here?

You’re at a Seventh-day Adventist camp meeting and you’re a witch by self-proclamation. Why are you here? And she went on to explain I was raised a Seventh-day Adventist. I was like, oh really and she says yeah, and Let’s just say I had a period in my life where God didn’t answer my prayers.

And as soon as she said that, you know, the Holy Spirit told me, that’s it. Talk to that. Remember, there’s behaviors, there’s theology, there’s beliefs. And right under that, there’s what?

Experience. Right there. Talk to that. It was very clear in my mind as soon as she said that.

And then she said, and then the pandemic came, we had nothing to do but be on our phones all day, and she says, and I, the whole title, the sermon I gave was witch talk and there’s a whole section of TikTok that’s just dedicated to witches teaching people how to be witches. And guess where she wandered? She wandered onto witch talk and learned how to become a witch on witch talk. Proving the very thing I just preached about.

Funny, she actually has deleted TikTok since then because she found it got in the way of her productivity which was what I appealed for people to do so she strangely had followed my appeal already and So she says and I learned there’s a difference, you know Not all witches are bad witches are great people and you’re a good person I’m a good person and and But she would throw on these little jabs, these little personal, and Jesus was this. And she would, instead of getting on these rabbit trails, the Holy Spirit said, remember, speak to her experience.

And so I told her, you know, I know what it’s like to feel like God doesn’t answer your prayers sometimes. And I shared with her the experience of how I lost my wife to cancer in 2020. I said, do you think that I prayed for that girl to be healed? I said, you have no idea how I prayed for God to heal that girl.

And you know what? She passed away. I know what it’s like to feel like God does not answer your prayers. And as soon as I said that, she went, her eyes got big and she was just, you know, like the look someone gives you when they’re like, they’re just riveted on what you’re saying.

You have their 100% attention. She just looked at me and I began to share with her. I said, I even got, I went through a period where I got angry with God. I got so angry with God just to be perfectly honest with you because you know, here’s this perfectly beautiful missionary for God and he allows her to get sick with cancer.

I went through it. I went through a terrible time with God, but you know what God did?

He never left me. He endured my anger. And I’ll tell you, I told God some terrible things and I’m ashamed of him now, but I just let him have it.

And you know what? God was able to handle my anger. He took it, he didn’t get offended and leave. He stayed with me, even in my anger.

He’s such a good God. And she’s just listening to me. Now, I remember I told you there was that intense guy who I started talking with. He followed me.

He pipes up. And he says, and by the way, there’s light and there’s darkness. I’m like, oh boy. Here we go.

He says, and you know what? Pharaoh’s servants, they threw down their staff and they became servants too. So just because there’s miracles happen doesn’t mean it’s from God. And he starts, and I saw the look on her face, she looked over at him, and you could see the dukes just go up, all right buddy, let’s go.

She was a very sassy girl. It was amazing that I was able to talk with her. And she starts arguing with this guy, and I’m just like, oh no, you’re blowing it. You’re totally blowing it.

And after they went back and forth, I could tell she was really getting weary of the conversation. I was like, let me just interject real quick. I said, I just want to let you know, God loves you. He saw you when you were in your room crying by yourself.

He saw you when you left him. He saw you and he is still with you. I just want to tell you, if this witch thing doesn’t work out, there’s a home for you. There’s a home for you to come back to if this witch thing doesn’t work out.

Because here’s what Satan does, he blesses, Satan does bless people up front. But guess what he does in the back end?

Boom, he bites them and they’re 10 times worse than when they’d started. It’s always what Satan does. And so I know this isn’t always gonna go well for her. So I said, when this witch thing doesn’t work out, there’s a home for you.

And she just kind of, you could tell she started softening again. The dude pipes up again. And I was like, brother, no! And she finally got fed up.

And you know what she told him? She goes, I was here for a discussion, not a sermon. I’m out of here. And she starts taking off, and I went over, I was like, hey, I know that didn’t go, you know, very well, but I just want to say, I’m glad you’re here.

I’m glad we had this discussion. Can I give you, can I shake your hand? And she very reluctantly took her hand out and shook it, looked at me, I said, God loves you, there’s a home for you, okay? She’s like, whatever.

I was like, okay, okay. And God showed me, do you see what got to her? Now, did she get baptized that afternoon? No, But was a seed planted?

Does she know that there’s a home for her? God loves her? And she had a living example of someone who went exactly through what she went through and came out the other side victoriously. Didn’t go down in flames, didn’t become a witch.

And she has that there and I just pray God will water that seed.
