Medication for the Body, Meditation for the Spirit

Analogy★★★★

What medications are for chronic physical illness, Eastern meditation is for spiritual illness. We know medications could be very beneficial in emergency situations, but to give medication for chronic illnesses which are preventable and reversible with lifestyle measures and to not address those lifestyle measures and just have people living on medications, that’s not a good way to practice medicine.

The issues: it doesn’t deal with the source, only symptom management; you become forever dependent; and they come with side effects. This is the exact same thing with Eastern meditation for the spirit. It doesn’t deal with the source. It’s only symptom management.

You become forever dependent on it, and it has side effects.

Arruda, Gabriel, “Eastern Meditation the Counterfeit Rest” (AudioVerse teaching 43122).

The point

The speaker draws an analogy between using medication for chronic physical illness (symptom management without addressing root cause) and using Eastern meditation for spiritual problems, highlighting the same flaws.
