Christ's Ministry Looked Like a Failure on the Cross

No one’s ministry had a more discouraging outlook than Jesus. Think about where Christ was when he was hanging on the cross.

No one’s ministry looked more worthless than Jesus Christ’s own ministry himself. He’s hanging on the cross 3 and a half years of constant loving service to Israel and what was their repayment? Crucify Him. Let’s kill this guy.

He healed our sick. I got a great idea. Let’s kill him. What a discouraging outlook.

3 and a half years of constant love and training with His disciples. After 3 and a half years of training these guys from Jesus Christ himself, the ultimate teacher, how many were at the cross?

1 was at the cross, John. But John, he fled like all the others.

They all left him. They had all betrayed him. Only 1 disciple was there. And his heart, the heart of Jesus, I could just imagine as he’s hanging on that cross, Satan was just assailing Christ with these horrible thoughts.

You have poured out your life for these people and for what? It was an absolute waste. You’re giving everything and these people could care less about you. They spit on you.

Come off the cross. Just stop it. These people don’t deserve it. Just let’s just call it quits right now.

Leave them to their own fate. And yet in this incredible display of faith, Jesus said, into thy hands, I commend my spirit. And he stayed true to the course, he did not give up. And all of us have the gates of heaven open to us because of Jesus and what he did that day.
