In the Bible, God is called by many different names, each giving a different perspective on His character. Yahweh is the most common name used for God in the Bible and is usually translated as Lord, using all capital letters. It means “I Am who I Am” (Exodus 3:14) and tells us of how present and accessible He is to those who call to Him for help. El Shaddai means “God the Mighty One” (Genesis 49:24) and speaks of His ultimate power over all things. Yahweh-Elohim means “Lord God” signifying that He is God above all gods.
