Core Beliefs as Tinted Sunglasses
AnalogyObject Lesson★★★★★Core beliefs are deeply held, rigid beliefs that we have about ourselves, about others, about the world, about our future and even of God. And so when we say deeply held rigid beliefs, a good analogy for that would be like sunglasses, right?
Sunglasses that we wear 24 7, right? So if I have sunglasses that are blue tinted sunglasses, I see the whole world, Everything that I do, everything gets filtered through that, including an annoying dog that’s barking in the morning. Now, again, it could just be the situation and it’s fine, but if I have those sunglasses, it’s not just the dog, it’s that patient later on, it’s my wife, it’s my child, whatever it is, right?
Because we have those, that filter on.

The point
Core beliefs are like tinted sunglasses worn constantly, filtering every experience and perception. If one wears blue-tinted glasses, the whole world appears blue, affecting how one interprets all situations and relationships, not just isolated events.
