Presence of God
Illustration★★★★OF GOD A man who lived in one of the poorer sections of town was known for his perfect Church attendance. Each morning on his way to worship he was barraged with requests for a little help by the homeless people in the neighborhood. However the man was so focused on getting to Church that he would pass them by, oblivious to their cries. One morning, when the man arrived at the Church, he found that the normally wide open door was shut tight. Worried that he might be unable to visit in God’s House that day, he looked Presence of God 277 heavenward. To his complete surprise he saw a sign posted above the door. It read: “If you don’t find Me in the neighborhood you won’t find Me in here.”
The point
A man devoted to church attendance passes by homeless people in need without helping. Upon arriving at church, he finds the door shut with a sign: 'If you don't find Me in the neighborhood, you won't find Me in here.' His faith and works are disconnected.
