John Knox's Legacy of Courage
Story★★★★John Knox put grit into all of us. He taught that every man had access to God, with no priest and no Church between his soul and God. When he was dying he said to his wife: “Read where I first cast anchor.” She knew what he meant, and she turned to the 17th chapter of John’s Gospel and read: “This is life eternal to know Thee, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom Thou hast sent.” From the day that Knox commenced his Christian life, he had lived in the storm, and he had this as his anchor. And now as he is facing death he said to his wife: “I want to lay hold of that anchor as I face the last storm.”
