Prayer
Poem★★★★A missionary had living with her a little Hindu orphan named Shadi. She taught him about Jesus, and one night when he was six years old she said to him, “Now pray a little prayer of your own.” And what do you think was Shadi’s answer? It was this: “Dear Jesus, make me like what you were when you were six years old.” A _ beautiful prayer, indeed! -§ Sunday, we heard a great author pray. His words - were beautiful, for he is an artist with words; yet they had the cold beauty of the icicle. They moved no one, accom- plished nothing. How different is the praying of Jesus! Says Luke, ‘And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly; and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood . . .”
The point
Six-year-old Hindu orphan Shadi's prayer: 'Dear Jesus, make me like what you were when you were six'—capturing childlike faith and desire for Christlikeness.
