Patient with Meditation-Induced Mania

StoryTestimony★★★★

I clearly remember several years ago, I had a patient who was vulnerable to mania and they did some meditation. They thought it was gonna help calm them, et cetera. It blew them totally into a full-blown manic episode with psychosis. I was like, you gotta be joking. But this is part of where I started doing a deeper dive into the risks of meditation. And I realized like, this is not just something that we should say, oh, it won’t hurt. It can hurt for some people.
