Beauty Transforms the Outcast
Story★★★★I came across a short French story which tells how a wolfish outcast of the street stole the picture of a dainty girl from a public gallery and hung it on the wall of his squalid garret. For the first time in his neglected life, eyes of interest and of beauty seemed to rest upon and follow him, and they so worked on his hidden nature as to wean him from his brutish habits. Great is the mystery of godlikeness and the influence of worship.
We are here to put ourselves under the spell of a Real Presence that can draw us into His own likeness and magnetize us with His own Spirit, according to the workings whereby He is able to subdue .ill things unto Himself”. Come then to this Living Stone, this I [eadstone, this Lovcstonc, and under His magnetism be caught into His fellowship and service.
The point
A street outcast steals a girl's picture and hangs it in his room; her beauty inspires him to reform from brutish habits through the transforming power of worship.
