Bryan

Bryan had been away from the church for twenty years. Deep inside he knew he should have continued with the commitment he had made to God. Circumstances with his wife became very trying. She did not want him to be a Christian, let alone, an Adventist Christian.

Bryan was pushed to have to make a decision—either her or the church. Fearing that his home was about to collapse, he chose his wife. Through the years he wondered how long God would extend mercy to him. At times when trouble loomed over his head, he wished he could find himself under the shelter of God’s wings.

Time passed on into retirement, but Bryan’s heart was not at peace. Would God take him back after knowingly turning his back on Him?

One day Bryan went to fetch his mail. In the bundle there was a flyer advertising a series of meetings on prophecy. He determined to not miss out this time. Night by night he attended.

As Bryan listened to the Word of God, old memories would come to him of his first love for God. Tears would well up as conviction once more took hold of him. Then came the night when the invitation was made for anyone who had once known the Lord but had drifted away from Him to respond to the appeal.

Bryan rose to his feet, and with tears flowing, he bowed at the altar. “I am coming home,” he thought.

“I am coming home.”
